overnight closure of part of A259 Cheriton Road, Folkestone is planned
for Thursday 6 August 2020 from 10.00 pm through until approximately
Cheriton Road will be closed in the vicinity of the railway bridge near Central Station, with no through access between the junctions with Castle Hill Avenue and Radnor Park Road.
The alternative routes are
Northbound via A2034 Cheriton Road, Foresters Way, A2033 Grace Hill, Foord Road and Radnor Park Road
Southbound via A259 Radnor Park Road, Pavilion Road, Black Bull Road, A2033 Foord Road, New Street, Bradstone Road, Dover Road, Grace Hill, Shellons Street, Middelburg Square, A2034 Cheriton Gardens Shorncliffe Road and A259 Castle Hill Avenue
The Order that prevents right turns from the northbound carriageway of Castle Hill Avenue into Cheriton Road will be suspended whilst the road is closed.
Access to the remainder of Cheriton Road continues from either direction up to where the road is actually closed.
The closure is to enable to allow a detailed bridge inspection to be carried out to be carried out by Amey Ltd, working with Network Rail.
The works have been timed to be carried out overnight, to reduce their impact.
