Town Mayor, Cllr Lucy McGirr was delighted to welcome almost 300 children from nine schools to the annual Christmas Carol Concert for Year Six Primary School children, held at the St Mary & St Eanswythe Church, The Bayle.
The children enthusiastically sang and some even signed to the traditional Christmas Carols. The Mayor would like to thank those who took part and wish you all a Merry Christmas.

We understand some people are disappointed, so we wanted to explain the situation around this year’s Christmas lights in Folkestone Town Centre.
Folkestone Town Council made the decision to focus new and existing light installations in the areas around the Christmas Switch-On event. This is because the Folkestone: A Brighter Future project is carrying out works across the town, and we didn’t want to use our limited budget on decorations that might need to be removed or replaced during those works.
Once the improvement works are finished, we hope to have the funds to expand and enhance the festive lighting throughout the town. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these long-term improvements take place.

Firstly, I would love to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all. What a year 2025 has been. Whether you've had an amazing year or a more challenging one, as it draws to an end let us all take time to unwind and reflect.

For me Christmas is about the food, the festivities, seeing the smiles on the children's faces and a time for being with loved ones, so I hope you can spend this precious time together making memories. For those who are unable to do so, for whatever reason, I hope you are still able to enjoy the festive spirit of the Season. I wish to extend special thanks to every hospitality and emergency service worker for all the hard work they put in over Christmas.

Finally, I wish to give my thanks to all charities in Folkestone for all the support you give to residents throughout the year.

The Worshipful Town Mayor of Folkestone, Councillor Lucy McGirr is delighted to announce Amy Rice as the winner of the ‘Festive Folkestone’ Christmas card competition, which will be sent out to local businesses and dignitaries, including His Majesty The King.
The effort and skill shown by the pupils was outstanding, which made it very difficult for us to choose one overall winner.
🥇First prize - £30 voucher to Amy Rice of The Folkestone School for Girls
🥈Second Prize - £20 voucher to Ella Chivers of The Folkestone School for Girls
🥉Third Prize - £15 voucher to Myla Miles of The Folkestone School for Girls
