Battle of Britain Day Commemorations 2025

The Battle of Britain Day is the name given to the large-scale aerial battle that took place on 15 September 1940, during the Battle of Britain.

In Folkestone the day was commemorated with a wreath laying service at the RAF War Memorial on The Leas on 15 September 2025.  The Service was conducted by Reverend Chris Johnson and the Town Mayor of Folkestone, Councillor Lucy McGirr was in attendance with Major (Retd.) Dennis Bradley BEM DL, Town Councillors, representatives of ex-service associations, cadet and youth organisations and their Standard Bearers.

The Mayor spoke of the sacrifice that was made by members of the Royal Air Force during the Battle of Britain and quoted Winston Churchill who said, “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few’.  The Mayor thanked everyone in attendance and particularly the Cadets who attended to support this important service.
