I came to Folkestone in 1995 to attend a job interview and have lived here ever since. I work for the NHS in Folkestone and Romney Marsh and have been involved in a variety of community projects over the years in my spare time.
I particularly like living by the sea and enjoy walking and creative writing. I have seen changes both positive and negative in the town but love the creativity and resilience of the area.
I am from an army family and have been really pleased to see the Gurkhas come to Folkestone and become an integral part of the community.
Growing up in an army family meant I was rootless as a child and moved quite a few times before I left school. I am now at home in Folkestone and want to give something back to this vibrant community who made me welcome when I first arrived.
