Although not originally from Folkestone, I moved here in 1982. It was a very different town then!
I worked in various different Education settings before spending most of my career as a Teacher of Children with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (Secondary age). Later in my career I became a Union Representative for the National Union of Teachers and that role grew until I became the General Secretary for all Kent. This was a very busy role doing Casework, Training and Admin at a
time of great change in Education.
I finally retired in 2019 and stood for election for Town Council in May 2023 for the first time. I want to be a positive voice for those in my Ward of Harbour.
