Play Area Reopened After Vandalism

Downs Road play area has reopened after it was repaired following vandalism whereby extensive damage was inflicted to the safety surface when it was ripped up, creating several holes in the wetpour. The park had to be closed for several weeks whilst quotes were sought to repair the damage. Town Mayor of Folkestone Councillor Abena Akuffo-Kelly said: “I am glad the park in Downs Road has now reopened after the vandalism which occurred just a year after a refurbishment was carried out. Folkestone Town Council spent money on all 8 of its parks to bring them back up to a great standard for our young people to enjoy.” “It is vital our play areas remain open and aren’t spoiled for the people of Folkestone because of the actions of a few selfish individuals.” “I would ask people to please be vigilant for any anti-social behaviour or acts of vandalism and report it to the police on 101.”
