D-Day, also referred to as the Normandy Landings, on 6 June 1944, marked a turning point in the Second World War. With nearly 160,000 Allied troops landing on the beaches of Normandy, France it was the largest seaborne invasion in history. D-Day marked the start of the steady Allied push to liberate Western Europe.
Local dignitaries and Veterans gather for the Annual D-Day Remembrance Service at the Garden of Remembrance on 6 June each year.
Members of the public are welcome to attend.
