Although the Town Mayor is now elected in the comfort of the Council Chamber, it is from the Churchyard Cross, in the churchyard of the Parish Church of St Mary and St Eanswythe, that the Town Mayor is to be named and prayers said for the person honoured and elected by the Charter Trustees, for the Charter Trustees themselves and for the Town of Folkestone.
