The Town Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition 2025

The Town Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition 2025

The Worshipful Town Mayor of Folkestone, Councillor Lucy McGirr, invited students in year groups 7 and 8 at local secondary schools to design a picture reflecting ‘Festive  Folkestone’ for this year’s annual Christmas card, which will be sent out to local businesses and dignitaries, including His Majesty The King.

Councillor Lucy McGirr, said; “My thanks to all the schools for taking the time to send in so many entries for the competition, which were of a very high standard.  Special mention must be made to the students at Folkestone School for Girls for their amazing submissions.

The effort and skill shown by the pupils was outstanding, which made it very difficult for us to choose one overall winner.  However, after very careful consideration first, second and third place were awarded as follows:

First prize – £30 voucher to Amy Rice of The Folkestone School for Girls

Second Prize – £20 voucher to Ella Chivers of The Folkestone School for Girls

Third Prize – £15 voucher to Myla Miles of The Folkestone School for Girls

In the end, Amy Rice’s design was chosen for addressing the theme of festive Folkestone by showcasing a festive scene of the Town Hall.

My thanks to the school staff for arranging for the students to take part and of course to all those students who took the time to submit an entry.”

Amy’s design will now be used for the Mayor’s Christmas card for 2025 which will be sent out shortly.
