The Town Mayor’s Educational Visits

The Town Mayor’s Educational Visits

The Worshipful Town Mayor of Folkestone, Councillor Lucy McGirr recently welcomed a group of children from Friedrich-Ebert-School (a comprehensive school in Schwalbach am Taunus, Germany) to the Mayor’s Parlour.

The session provided an opportunity for the students to see the Mayor’s Parlour and view the Mace and various insignia belonging to the mayoralty. They were also given a brief guide as to how the mayoralty links into the history of Folkestone and pupils had the opportunity to look around the Folkestone Museum, taking part in the Mayor’s Quiz.

We had excellent feedback from the group, who very much enjoyed meeting the Mayor and learning more about the role of the Mayor, Town Council and looking around the Museum.

Should any other schools or youth groups be interested in meeting the Town Mayor and learning about the mayoralty with an opportunity to look around Folkestone Museum, these sessions are offered at no cost to the school or youth group, please contact Georgina Wilson at Folkestone Town Council on 01303 257946 or email georgina.wilson@folkestone-tc.gov.uk
